Job summary

MasTec is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead strategy, governance, and delivery planning across our renewables and construction initiatives. You will oversee resourcing, standards, dashboards, and risk mitigation while partnering with executive leaders to protect profit and schedule commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of construction industry experience (renewables preferred).
• Demonstrated leadership across multiple projects/programs.
• Previous solar construction experience preferred.
• Leadership experience building and leading teams in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• Model, promote, and enforce safety policies during pursuit and start-up activities.
• Drive quality planning and ensure execution plans are complete and right the first time.
• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing preconstruction talent across the team.
• Establish group reporting cadence, dashboards, and data governance standards for executive insights.
• Promote integrity, accountability, and respectful collaboration across teams.
• Lead clear, solutions-oriented communication on scope, schedule, and risk.
• Own and govern preconstruction standard work and phase gate reviews.
• Drive continuous improvement and adoption across operating entities.
• Provide functional leadership across a distributed organization and set objectives.
• Coach and mentor team members to strengthen depth and leadership.
• Assess structure and workload; implement improvements for efficiency.
• Support the SVP with annual plans and capability staffing guidance.
• Develop and maintain standard procedures within Preconstruction.
• Build credibility by diagnosing challenges and delivering practical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance to strengthen pursuit quality and start-up readiness.
• Sponsor initiatives to improve estimating accuracy and phase gate discipline.
• Own budgeting and forecasting; manage spend and staffing vs plan.
