This role provides leadership and support to the senior executive position (CNO) responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions/services within the hospital organization. The role involves assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units. The Director will assume 24/7 responsibility for the assigned areas and is accountable for ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, clinical staff competency, and resource management related to patient care.
The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing resources for one to two departments on a 24-hour basis. Responsibilities include budget management, resource utilization, staff recruitment and management, quality outcomes, performance improvement, monitoring service quality and quantity, maintaining positive relationships with staff and system departments, and equipment management. Completes established competencies within the designated introductory period. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include maintaining an active and current registered nurse license in the state of practice, demonstrating effective interpersonal and communication skills, proven leadership, hospital operational ability, and serving as a role model and advocate for nursing.
