A leading healthcare organization in San Antonio is seeking a Director of Nursing to oversee multiple departments. This role involves leadership in nursing practice, ensuring high-quality patient care, and managing resources effectively. This role provides leadership and support to the senior executive position (CNO) responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions/services within the hospital organization. The role will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units. It requires 24/7 accountability for the assigned areas. The role supports the CNO in ensuring high-quality, safe, and appropriate nursing care, maintaining clinical staff competency, and managing resources effectively related to patient care.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and managing resources for one to two departments on a 24-hour basis. Responsibilities include budget management, resource utilization, staff recruitment and management, achieving quality outcomes, performance improvement, monitoring service quality and quantity, fostering positive relationships with staff and other departments, and equipment management. Completes established competencies within the designated introductory period. Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION :
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
PREFERRED EDUCATION :
Master's Degree in Nursing, Business, or a related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE :
5 years of experience in the discipline or specialty
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :
3-5 years of progressively responsible management experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE :
Current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE :
Specialty or administrative certifications are desired. The candidate must hold an active and current registered nurse license in the state of practice. The candidate should possess effective interpersonal and communication skills, proven leadership ability, hospital operational knowledge, and serve as a role model and advocate for nursing.
Qualifications
Education :
Required : Associate degree from an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or a BSN.
Preferred : MSN or master's in a healthcare-related field.
Experience :
Required : 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as a manager or full-time charge nurse/related position.
Certifications :
Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by law, regulation, or policy in the state of practice. AHA BLS certification is required.

Pay : $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
