Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Director of Applications Engineering to lead the customer-facing technical organization, ensuring customers can understand, integrate, operate, and deploy our products. The Director oversees Applications Engineers who interface between customers, Product, Engineering, and Business Development.

The role owns the Voice of the Customer within the product organization, translating customer needs into actionable product requirements, roadmap priorities, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience directing customer-facing engineering teams.
• Ability to translate customer needs and feedback into product requirements and documentation.
• Proven track record in complex hardware/software integration and field support.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing customer-facing technical team.
• Serve as primary technical interface for customers deploying products.
• Ensure customers have guidance, documentation, tools, training, and support for integration and operation.
• Translate customer needs and feedback into actionable input for Product and Engineering.
• Collaborate with Product to identify usability gaps and new applications.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of product hardware, software, and interfaces.
• Develop reference architectures and tools to simplify deployment across customers and missions.
• Lead creation of technical content and training materials for successful adoption.
• Escalate issues and drive root-cause resolution and lessons learned.
