Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX is seeking a Director of Applications Engineering to lead a customer-facing technical organization responsible for ensuring customers can successfully understand, integrate, operate, and deploy the company’s products and solutions.

The Director oversees a team of Applications Engineers who serve as technical experts and act as a critical interface between customers, Product, Engineering, Business Development, and program execution.

Qualifications

• 11–15 years of related experience in applications engineering, systems engineering, product engineering, customer integration, technical support, or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of leadership or management experience
• Extensive experience directing customer integration and deployment activities involving complex hardware and software systems.
• Experience translating customer requirements, operational feedback, and field experience into product requirements and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead Applications Engineering and build a high-performing customer-facing technical team.
• Own the technical product/customer interface for customers integrating and deploying products.
• Drive successful product adoption with guidance, documentation, tools, training and support.
• Own the Voice of the Customer and translate feedback into actionable inputs for Product and Engineering.
• Influence product strategy and roadmap based on customer needs and usability gaps.
• Develop deep product expertise through close collaboration with product development teams.
• Support pursuits and customer solution development with cross-functional teams.
• Lead customer integration and technical support through lifecycle from evaluation to on-orbit/operations.
• Drive product documentation and enablement through high-quality content.
• Create scalable reference architectures and standard solutions for deployment across customers and missions.
• Close the loop with Engineering for root-cause resolution and lessons learned.
• Partner across the product lifecycle to maintain continuity from need to deployment.
• Develop applications engineering talent blending technical depth with customer engagement.
