Job summary

CesiumAstro in El Segundo, CA seeks a Director of Applications Engineering to lead the customer-facing technical organization responsible for enabling customers to understand, integrate, operate, and deploy its space communication products.

You will oversee a team of Applications Engineers, interfacing with Product, Engineering, and Business Development to drive customer success and product improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer/Systems/Aerospace Engineering or related field with 11–15 years of related experience, or Master's with 9–12 years, or PhD with 7–10 years.
• 5+ years of leadership or management experience leading applications engineering, systems engineering, or related teams.
• Extensive experience directing customer integration and deployment for complex hardware/software systems.
• Experience translating customer requirements into product requirements, documentation, and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing customer-facing technical team with deep expertise in company products.
• Establish Applications Engineering as the primary technical interface for customers.
• Ensure customers have the guidance, documentation, and support to integrate and operate products.
• Translate customer needs and feedback into actionable input for Product and Engineering.
• Partner with Product leadership to identify recurring needs and influence priorities.
• Maintain deep knowledge of product hardware, software, interfaces, and operation.
