Job summary

CesiumAstro in Westminster, Colorado seeks a Director of Applications Engineering to lead the customer-facing technical organization, ensuring customers can understand, integrate, operate, and deploy our satellite communication products.

You will own the Voice of the Customer within the product organization, translating customer needs into actionable product requirements, roadmap priorities, documentation, tools, and improvements.

Qualifications

• 11–15 years of related experience in applications engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of leadership experience.
• Extensive experience directing customer integration and deployment activities with complex hardware and software.
• Experience translating customer requirements and feedback into product requirements and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing customer-facing technical team.
• Establish Applications Engineering as the primary technical interface for customers.
• Ensure customers have guidance, tools, training, and support for integration and operation.
• Translate customer needs into actionable input for Product and Engineering.
• Partner with Product leadership to identify recurring needs and inform investments.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of product hardware, software, interfaces, and operation.
• Collaborate with architects and teams to apply products to customer needs and support proposals.
• Define the approach for customer integration, testing, commissioning, and operation.
• Own the strategy and quality of customer-facing technical content (manuals, guides, references).
• Develop reference architectures and standard solutions to reduce engineering effort.
• Escalate product issues and communicate priorities to improve future releases.
