Job summary

FirstEnergy is recruiting a Director for the Enterprise Project Management Office to lead delivery discipline across the Business Transformation portfolio. This role guides project methodology, stage-gate governance, and health reporting while coordinating resource scheduling for multiple initiatives.

You will build PM capability, mentor project managers, and advise leadership on when to rescope or stop work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, information systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Master's degree or MBA preferred.
• PMP, PfMP, or equivalent portfolio or program management certification.
• Experience leading and developing a team of project or program managers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including influencing senior leaders.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of concurrent initiatives across multiple business units and deliver on time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Project Managers and build project management as a core capability within Business Transformation.
• Own delivery health across the portfolio, and report performance and forecast to executive leadership.
• Advise leadership where delivery performance indicates work should be rescoped, re-sequenced, or stopped, and uphold delivery standards.
• Own resource scheduling and capacity management across concurrent initiatives for direct Project Manager reports, coordinating with peers.
• Identify systemic causes of delivery failure across the portfolio and drive improvements to methodology, capacity, or governance.
• Select and/or develop, implement, and continuously improve project management tooling and templates.
• Build project management capability beyond the Business Transformation team, including standards, training, and coaching.
• Manage third-party delivery resources and contractor capacity, including onboarding and performance.
• Contribute to Business Transformation strategy, governance, and capability planning as a leadership team member.
