Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Director of Process Excellence and Change Management to lead a senior team driving transformation across multiple business units. You will design and sustain future-state processes, manage adoption, and ensure durable improvements beyond go-live. Travel within the service territory is expected.

You will coordinate with human resources on organization design, governance, and workforce impacts while reporting to the Vice President of Business Transformation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, organizational development, or related discipline. 10+ years of relevant work experience; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, or organizational change work.
• Demonstrated experience establishing methods, standards, or quality controls that others apply consistently.
• Experience leading and developing a team of experienced practitioners.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team across process excellence and change management.
• Set methods, standards, and quality expectations and ensure work meets them.
• Allocate specialist capacity across units and resolve demand with Portfolio Managers.
• Own the improvement methodology and ensure consistency across the enterprise.
• Develop, implement, and improve process excellence and change tooling and templates.
• Own adoption planning and sustainment for initiatives with significant changes.
• Represent disciplines to executive leadership and defend recommendations.
• Identify recurring problems and advocate enterprise-wide solutions.
• Oversee continuous improvement training and certification.
• Partner with HR on organizational design and workforce impacts.
• Manage third‑party partners and assess value against spend.
• Contribute to strategy, governance, and capability planning.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, organizational development, or related discipline

Relevant work experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, or organizational change

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence senior leaders

Ability to manage a portfolio of concurrent initiatives across multiple business units
