Job summary

FanDuel is seeking an Infrastructure Engineering Director to own the cloud and on-prem infrastructure stack, driving reliability, standardization, and cost governance. You will lead a growing team, set operations runbooks, and partner with product teams to ensure scalable foundations across Kubernetes, AWS, and hybrid deployments.

You’ll shape platform strategy, mentor engineers, and balance cost with resilience in a fast-scaling environment.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of platform engineering or infrastructure teams.
• Deep Kubernetes architecture and scaling expertise.
• Strong AWS knowledge including Outposts and hybrid deployments.
• Experience defining platform strategy and standards.
• Proven ability to establish runbooks, change and incident processes.
• Disaster recovery design and testing experience.
• Experience defining SLOs/SLIs and alerts.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and automation.
• Track record of reducing toil through automation.
• Cost awareness with balance of reliability and resilience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder influence.
• Ownership mindset and long-term platform sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Establishing infrastructure strategy and standards across cloud provisioning, observability, disaster recovery, and cost governance.
• Building and scaling the infrastructure engineering team with operational rigor and discipline.
• Owning disaster recovery strategy, RTO/RPO definitions, testing, and organizational readiness.
• Establishing SLOs/SLIs for foundational infrastructure services.
• Designing and evolving cloud infrastructure for resilience, cost, and operational clarity across AWS, Outposts, Kubernetes, and networking.
• Setting standards for operational discipline and post-mortems.
• Managing vendor relationships, cloud costs, and capacity planning.
• Leading complex production incident response across infrastructure domains.
• Stewarding infrastructure platforms under regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Partnering with engineering and product leadership to influence platform direction.
• Evaluating build-versus-buy decisions and vendor capabilities.
• Mentoring engineers and raising infrastructure maturity.
