Job summary

DraftKings is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to shape long-term infrastructure strategy for a high-demand platform. You will guide Kubernetes, cloud/on-prem design, and reliability practices with cross-functional teams to scale operations.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and champion automation to improve velocity and reduce risk across the engineering organization. Your leadership will be key to sustaining reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 8+ years designing, operating, and scaling distributed cloud and on-prem infrastructure, including 3+ years in senior technical leadership (Staff/Principal).
• Proven track record leading large-scale infrastructure/platform initiatives with cross-functional alignment.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise: cluster architecture, networking, storage, security, operators, lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute long-term strategy for our Kubernetes platform across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Drive architectural decisions for cluster lifecycle management, networking, IAM, observability, autoscaling, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
• Lead large-scale platform initiatives across engineering teams with measurable outcomes to improve reliability and developer experience.
• Establish reliability practices with SLIs/SLOs and error budgets aligned with business priorities.
• Build automation-first infrastructure via IaC, GitOps, self-healing systems, and internal tooling.
• Champion AI-powered engineering capabilities to improve efficiency and incident response.
• Lead platform incidents and drive post-incident improvements for resilience.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical strategy through architecture reviews and coaching.
