Job summary

The Chimes, Inc. is hiring for a residential caregiver in Baltimore, MD. The role focuses on personal support in the home and community, promoting independence and well-being for individuals with intellectual and behavioral challenges.

Compensation is $19.75 per hour. This not-for-profit organization offers comprehensive mission-driven work. Qualifications include a High School diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift and assist residents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift, pull, and push adequate weight to assist individuals supported (may exceed 50 pounds).

Responsibilities

• Work in the residence of a person served as a personal support, engaging with them in home and community activities.
• Provide supervision and training to adults with developmental disabilities to promote growth.
• Ensure the house is personalized to each person’s preferences and personality.
• Instruct people served to do as much as possible for themselves per program plans.
• Communicate with day program staff about the individual’s program.
• Report needs to the Community Support Manager promptly.
• Use approved behavior plans to help achieve goals.
• Be a positive role model for persons served and staff.
• Help develop independent living skills (mobility, budgeting, hygiene, etc.).
• Know the whereabouts of persons served during work hours.
• Attend scheduled meetings with supervisors/managers.
• Understand routine and emergency medical procedures including CPR and MAR checks.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety at home.
• Transport persons served to appointments and activities.
• Handle funds per agency policy.
• Communicate medical concerns to the RN and supervisor.
