Job summary

WellLife Network is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help New Yorkers with development disabilities thrive at home and in the community. You will provide compassionate care, assist with daily living, and advocate for client needs, rights, and access to services.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clinicians and caregivers, documentation of progress, and promoting independence through supportive, person-centered approaches.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• A valid New York State Driver’s License with at least 2 years of driving experience (required for driving positions).
• Experience supporting adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy for individuals you support.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meals, and home safety.
• Administer medications as directed and support medical appointments.
• Assist with walking, transfers, and mobility aids to ensure safety.
• Implement respectful behavioral support and encourage independence.
• Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities.
• Assist with communication tools and advocate for needs and access to services.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams and maintain accurate daily notes and reports.
