Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services in Lubbock seeks a Direct Support Professional II to work in the State Supported Living Center system. You will provide daily living support, assist with personal care, and participate in care plans across homes.

This full-time role offers varied shifts (day/evening/night), nonexempt status, and opportunities for training. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license preferred; telework not available.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak and read English.
• Ability to make decisions and use good judgment when dealing with critical incidents.
• Ability to react quickly and calmly in an emergency situation.
• Knowledge of individual care techniques and of treatment, therapy, and developmental programs.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may work specific or rotating shift schedules.
• Implements habilitation, behavior management, and treatment programs.
• Teaches life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Participates in the development of the individual’s treatment plan.
• Observes individuals for signs of disease or adverse reactions and documents observations.
• Provides assistance in transporting individuals to activities and emergencies.
• Administers first aid and CPR as trained.
• May provide training/mentorship to new DSPs and volunteers.
