Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Direct Support Professional II to work in Pollok, TX, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at a State Supported Living Center. The DSP II works in a team to provide care, training, and daily living support across mornings, evenings, and nights.

Must be able to drive a state vehicle and meet background checks. Responsibilities include implementing treatment plans, documenting daily activities, and

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, Ukeru and/or Safe Use of Restraint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work specific shifts.
• Implements habilitation and rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and treatment programs.
• Teaches life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
• Participates in development of the individual’s treatment plan.
• Observes signs of illness or reactions and documents observations.
• Reports significant changes in condition or behavior.
• Assists in transporting individuals to activities and emergencies.
• Administers first aid and CPR as needed.
• Provides care to individuals under medical supervision.
• Evacuates individuals during emergencies.
• Prevents or manages aggressive behavior and applies CPR when needed.
• Performs direct care and support services to individuals.
• May mentor new DSPs or act as shift/team lead.
