Job summary

Ciena Healthcare seeks a qualified Dietitian/Department Supervisor to oversee the dietary program at Christian Park Healthcare Center in Michigan. You will supervise kitchen staff, manage menus, ensure dietary compliance, and coordinate with nursing and medical teams to meet residents’ nutritional needs.

You’ll monitor diet plans, maintain records, and drive quality assurance initiatives while adhering to state and federal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field is required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a Dietician in a healthcare or skilled nursing setting preferred.
• One to two years management/supervisory experience preferred.
• Knowledge of MDS, care planning, and clinical documentation standards.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations governing dietary and nutritional services.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the dietary department and provides supervision to the dietary staff to ensure the nutritional needs of residents are met according to standards of practice and regulatory guidelines.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Participates in regularly scheduled conferences including department head meetings, Resident at Risk meetings and interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
• Oversees the purchase of food and supplies within budget and maintains a supply to adequately cover each meal.
• Provides technical guidance and administrative direction over diet planning, menu formulation, preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets.
• Ensures menus meet resident nutritional needs, preferences, and follow physician orders and regulatory guidelines.
• Interviews residents or family members to obtain diet history.
• Monitors weekly and monthly weights and collaborates with nursing personnel to make appropriate recommendations.
• Monitors meals to ensure nutritious, well-prepared, and palatable meals in a timely and consistent manner while adhering to menus and diet orders.
• Assists with the development of plans of correction following State, Federal and QA surveys, as needed.
