Job summary

GFL Industries in West Point, VA is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to safely operate, repair, rebuild and maintain heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment for daily waste management operations in a live shop environment.

You will perform inspections, diagnose issues, service hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO, and other components to ensure fleet safety and reliability. Shift is 2pm-12am with overtime after 40 hours.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing diesel trucks and heavy equipment.
• Ability to diagnose issues and perform repairs in a live shop.
• Willingness to work a 2pm–12am shift and handle overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
• Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.
• Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely.
