Job summary

GFL Environmental in West Point, VA seeks a Diesel Mechanic to safely operate, repair, and maintain heavy‑duty diesel trucks and equipment, ensuring safe and reliable daily operation. Work in a live shop with paid interviews to gauge fit, in a role with clear responsibilities for diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance.

Starting pay is $25-$35 per hour with more pay based on experience and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and complete repairs on Diesel Refuse Trucks.
• Repair and troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, PTO systems, and other truck components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to keep Refuse Trucks operating safely and reliably.
• Perform preventative maintenance and complete repairs to ensure fleet vehicles are ready for daily operation.

Safely operate, repair, rebuild and perform maintenance on Company owned or leased heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment including rolling stock to ensure its ability to operate safely

Shift: 2pm-12am M-F.
