Job summary

Republic Services in Shelby, NC seeks a Maintenance Technician B to repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, hydraulic/electrical systems, brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, and drive train. Road service may be required to return equipment to operation.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, on-site repairs, and using electronic tools to diagnose issues; training will be provided for new technologies and equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
• Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
• Experience with maintenance on heavy/medium duty trucks or similar equipment.
• ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
• CDL is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and repair maintenance on vehicle components and systems on-site and on the road.
• Repair chassis components and refuse bodies with hydraulic and electrical systems; service braking systems.
• Conduct light engine repair, suspension, drivetrain and steering work.
• Maintain heating and air conditioning components.
• Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication; provide safe road service as needed.
• Identify malfunction sources using electronic tools and complete training programs.
