Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician for our Duluth, GA location. You will diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks in our Engine Shop, with opportunities to mentor teammates and lead projects. You will work on diagnostics, rebuilds, and preventative maintenance while collaborating with Parts and Service to keep repairs on schedule and safety standards high.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (CDL is a plus).
• Cummins Engine Repair Certification (Required).
• Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred.
• ASE Certifications are a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with email, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn and use dealership management and diagnostic software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
• Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
• Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
• Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings.
• Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.
• Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
• Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
