Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is seeking an experienced Diesel Engine Technician to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks in our Duluth, GA Engine Shop. You will mentor apprentices, lead projects when needed, and collaborate with Parts and Service to keep repairs on schedule.

We value engineers who diagnose tough engine issues, document findings, and stay current with OEM bulletins and best practices. CDL is a plus and a pre-employment screening is required.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (CDL a plus).
• Cummins Engine Repair Certification is required.
• Master Technician certifications in multiple areas are preferred.
• ASE Certifications are a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency with email, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
• Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
• Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
• Document repairs and diagnostic findings.
• Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.
• Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
• Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
