Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers in Duluth, GA seeks an experienced Diesel Engine Technician to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks. You’ll work with a skilled team, mentor apprentices, and lead projects to keep fleets on the road.

The role emphasizes diagnostics, engine rebuilding, safety, and adherence to manufacturer procedures, with opportunities for professional growth in a supportive shop environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CDL is a plus.
• Cummins Engine Repair Certification required; ASE certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
• Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
• Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
• Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings.
• Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.
• Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
• Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
