Job summary

Lukos in Basile, LA seeks a Social Worker / Custody and Removal Coordinator to support ICE detention operations. You will assist with detainee requests, coordinate services, and help ensure safety and compliance while partnering with ERO field staff and facilities.

The role requires a bachelor's in social work or psychology, fluent English and Spanish, and experience with victims or crisis settings. Travel may be required; strong communication and cross‑cultural skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Psychology (accredited). Master’s degree preferred but not required.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral.
• Experience with victims or crisis settings and with detention/custodial environments.
• Knowledge of case management processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assist with detainee needs and complaints; process ICE detainee requests.
• Support ERO officers with detainee communications and child welfare matters.
• Coordinate disability accommodations with detention facilities and EROHQ.
• Facilitate discussions, ensure policy adherence, and communicate with detained noncitizens.
• Provide information and referrals to ensure medical, mental health, chaplain, and other services.
• Meet newly detained noncitizens to orient them to CRC services.
• Support housing units and programs for vulnerable populations (e.g., transgender housing, mental health units, reunification).
• Provide interpretation services for facility staff and detainees.
• Support safety and security within the detention facility.
• Assist with removal planning by researching resources and compiling departure plans.
• Assist with release planning by identifying resources in the U.S. and coordinating family communication.
• Develop and maintain a national resource database for CRC/ERO use.
