Job summary

Exelon's Transmission & Substation Engineering group seeks a senior Design Manager to lead a team of about 17 designers and drafters across the service territory, ensuring designs meet standards for reliability and safety.

You will supervise performance appraisals, coordinate across Work Management, and drive continuous improvement while fostering a diverse, inclusive culture. The role may require extended hours during storms.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years design experience in the Utility industry or equivalent external experience
• 2-3 years internal supervisory experience or acceptable rating on Supervisory Assessment
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Broad knowledge of company, department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals
• Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communication, consensus building, establishing and maintaining trust, driving execution and multi-tasking
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to supervise, influence and execute with a sense of urgency and in an environment of constant change and competing priorities

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and direction to diverse and/or specialized disciplines of functions to achieve safety, reliability and performance goals.
• Functionally balance day-to-day operations and policy with tactical planning; decisions impact the department and operations.
• Ensure adherence to company standards, policies and procedures by workgroup employees.
• Enforce safety rules and regulations across the organization.
• Evaluate performance, establish standards, monitor and coach for improved performance.
• Schedule work with Work Management and monitor staff availability for timely updates.
• Provide training and development of team members; manage the design department budget.
• Foster a high-performance, inclusive culture and lead change initiatives.
