Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS layouts and review designs. This role can be hybrid, with regular in-office presence in multiple locations or fully remote; location specifics will be discussed at interview.

You will perform basic electrical calculations, draft drawings in AutoCAD, and stay current with NEC/NFPA 855. Collaboration with BD and Estimating is essential, along with documentation of revisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles (wire sizing, current calculations).
• Knowledge of building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings against internal standards and communicate differences.
• Evaluate RFPs against our standard designs and communicate unique specifications.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating to respond to RFPs.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• Create and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research NEC and NFPA 855 and stay current on applicable codes.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other disciplines.
• Assist in preparation of technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
