Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review designs from others. The role supports hybrid work with in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR, or fully remote; location details discussed during interviews.

Responsibilities include creating layouts, reviewing bid drawings, evaluating RFPs, performing basic electrical calculations, CAD drafting, and staying current on electrical codes. Emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Commitment to safety and strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
• Review RFPs and evaluate against our standard designs; communicate unique specifications.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating to respond to RFPs.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research and stay current on NEC and NFPA 855 codes.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineering teams.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, calculations, and specifications; maintain revision history.
