DELI/LEAD CLERK (Finance)


Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Deli department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Deli operations. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to handle stressful situations

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals.
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  • Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in performance appraisals.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer inquiries with suggestions.
  • Slice deli meats and cheeses to customer requests using proper equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
  • Inform customers of deli specials.
  • Provide customers with ordered products in the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
  • Recommend deli items to customers to ensure they get what they want and need.
  • Use all deli equipment, such as fryers, rotisseries, heat lamps, and ovens, according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods following food safety and temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  • Educate associates about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions, especially those affecting the Deli.
  • Stay current with advertisements and promotional campaigns.
  • Assist in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate actions on financial reports.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising inventory processes.
  • Train associates on inventory, stocking, and Computer Assisted Ordering systems.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and log temperatures regularly.
  • Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
  • Report customer or employee accidents and safety risks, including illegal activities such as theft or fraud.
  • Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
