DELI/LEAD CLERK (Finance)



Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Deli department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Deli operations. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to handle stressful situations

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent (preferred)
  • Management experience (preferred)
  • Retail experience
  • Deli experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates
  • Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company and store goals
  • Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets
  • Train and develop associates and participate in performance appraisals
  • Adhere to all laws and company guidelines
  • Maintain product knowledge and respond to customer inquiries
  • Slice deli meats and cheeses as per customer requests using proper equipment
  • Offer product samples and inform customers of deli specials
  • Provide customers with fresh, correctly portioned products to prevent shrinkage
  • Recommend deli items to customers
  • Operate deli equipment according to guidelines
  • Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Stay informed about current and upcoming promotions
  • Assist in budgeting, profit and loss reviews, and inventory planning
  • Train staff on inventory management and computer-assisted ordering
  • Follow all food safety regulations and maintain proper temperature logs
  • Reinforce safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or incidents
  • Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues
  • Notify management of safety risks, accidents, or illegal activities
  • Perform all essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations
