Job summary

KBR is seeking highly motivated students for the Defense & Intel - Mechanical Engineering Internship Program for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience on real-world projects supporting national security and advanced tech initiatives.

Interns will work with experienced professionals, develop CAD and testing skills, and be mentored in a collaborative team culture with competitive pay. The program runs 12 weeks, averaging 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Full-time rising junior, senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software; experience with CAD software preferred.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
• Validate vendor equipment performance and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results.
• Support senior engineers with final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis.
• Research and identify mechanical parts, components, and materials.
• Manage data, including test results, Bills-of-Material, quotations, drawings, technical data sheets, etc.
• Perform hardware assembly and equipment installations.
• Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
• Support engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results.
