Job summary

KBR is offering a Defense & Intel – Software Engineering Internship for Summer 2027. The program provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to contribute to meaningful projects supporting national security and advanced technology initiatives.

Qualifications

• Full-time rising junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis, modeling, and basic algorithm development.
• Solid understanding of vector math, including dot products, cross products, coordinate transformations, and geometric projections.
• Strong problem-solving ability with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a technical team.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support analysis of radar, sensor, or similar system data, including preprocessing, noise removal, and feature extraction.
• Assist with simulation, modeling, or data-driven studies related to aerospace or mechanical engineering concepts.
• Develop, test, and validate algorithms that use vector math and coordinate transformations.
• Perform basic DSP tasks such as filtering and Fourier analysis using MATLAB or Python.
• Contribute to GUI design or improvements for internal tools using MATLAB App Designer or Python.
• Document code, results, and methodology clearly for team collaboration.
• Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot software or algorithm issues and iterate solutions.
• Present progress in team meetings and provide written summaries of findings.
• Work independently and as part of a small technical team, owning tasks to completion.
