Job summary

KBR's Defense & Intel Internship Program invites motivated students for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience on national security and advanced technology projects. Interns will work with engineers on real‑world assignments, contributing to design, testing, data analysis and documentation across multiple disciplines.

Selected interns will receive mentorship from experts, exposure to cutting-edge projects, and a structured 12‑week experience with competitive pay; security clearance eligibility

Qualifications

• Full-time rising junior, senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software; experience with CAD software preferred.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
• Validate vendor equipment performance and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results.
• Support senior engineers with final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis.
• Research and identify mechanical parts, components, and materials.
• Manage data, including test results, Bills-of-Material, quotations, drawings, technical data sheets, etc.
• Perform hardware assembly and equipment installations.
• Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
• Support engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results.
• Abide by company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
