Job summary

KBR is seeking highly motivated engineering students for a Defense & Intel Mechanical Engineering Internship in Summer 2027. You will work with seasoned professionals on real projects related to national security and advanced tech, applying mechanical principles and CAD tools to design, test and improve systems.

You’ll gain practical experience across engineering disciplines, participate in testing, data analysis, and documentation, and receive mentorship in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Full-time rising junior, senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software; experience with CAD software preferred.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
• Validate vendor equipment performance and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results.
• Support senior engineers with final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis.
• Research and identify mechanical parts, components, and materials.
• Manage data, including test results, Bills-of-Material, quotations, drawings, technical data sheets, etc.
• Perform hardware assembly and equipment installations.
• Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
• Support engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results.
• Abide by company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
