Job summary

Hornblower Corp is seeking a Deckhand to maintain vessel cleanliness and guest comfort while underway, and to assist with docking and undocking operations on a Coast Guard-inspected passenger vessel.

EXPECTATIONS include delivering outstanding hospitality per RESPECT standards, following safety procedures, and supporting crew in equipment maintenance and navigational tasks. Flexible scheduling is required for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Reliable commute to the dock for shifts.
• Able to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Pre-employment random drug testing for marine personnel.
• May be required to apply for a Transportation Workers ID Card.
• Normal color vision for navigational displays.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers per RESPECT system.
• Follow safety procedures to protect passengers and vessel.
• Participate in routine safety drills for major incidents.
• Handle mooring lines to dock vessels.
• Stand watch from bows/bridge wings to spot obstructions and navigational aids.
• Assist with maintenance of vessel equipment and systems.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of common areas on deck.
• Sweep, mop, and wash decks and exterior to remove dirt.
• Load or unload materials; remove trash from vessel.
• Service and replenish restrooms as needed.
• Be prepared to begin work at scheduled times.
• Maintain uniform and grooming per standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
