Job summary

Le Pain Quotidien in Philadelphia is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead the team, elevate the guest experience, and drive strong business performance. This hands-on leadership role focuses on coaching, culture, and balancing service with operations and financial results.

You will work closely with the General Manager to recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team, while owning labor deployment and ensuring adherence to brand standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of restaurant leadership experience in a full-service setting.
• Ability to lead from the floor and inspire a team during service.
• Track record of building strong restaurant cultures with accountability.
• NYC Food Handlers License is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lead from the floor, stay engaged during service, coach in the moment, support the team, and ensure guests receive hospitality from arrival to departure.
• Own the guest experience, anticipate needs, resolve concerns with empathy and urgency, and turn service recovery into loyalty opportunities.
• Develop people and culture, creating an environment where team members feel valued and motivated to grow.
• Partner with the General Manager to recruit, interview, hire, onboard, develop, and retain a high-performing restaurant team.
• Lead and coach restaurant leaders and team members through opening, service, and closing with clear shift-to-shift communication.
• Own labor deployment during service, balancing guest experience, team productivity, and financial performance.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, hospitality, cleanliness, and food safety.
• Partner with GM to manage inventory, food cost, waste, ordering, and COGS, identifying opportunities to improve performance.
• Contribute to P&L performance by using sales, labor, and other metrics to forecast needs and drive profitability.
• Step into General Manager responsibilities when needed, showing readiness for future GM opportunities.
