Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement, operate, and improve security controls across the enterprise data estate, including analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and Databricks, and relational databases like Azure SQL and SQL Server.

You will harden configurations, manage encryption and keys, enforce least-privilege access, and automate compliance and governance for data protection across production and non-production environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with data protection and database security is required.
• Knowledge of encryption, key management, access controls, labeling, masking, and DLP is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implements and maintains data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configures and operates encryption controls for data at rest and in transit.
• Implements least-privilege access models across data platforms, databases, and pipelines.
• Hardens security configurations for cloud platforms and databases.
• Embeds security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and export workflows.
• Automates control deployment, configuration assessment, and compliance validation.
