Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement, operate, and improve security controls across the enterprise data estate. You will work remotely from approved states and collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, Governance, and IT teams to secure data pipelines and platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.
• Proficiency with SQL and cloud data/analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configure and manage encryption controls for data at rest and in transit.
• Enforce least-privilege access models across data platforms and services.
• Embed security controls into data ingestion, transformation, and sharing workflows.
• Automate security controls deployment and evidence collection; support audits and investigations.
