Job summary

Ericsson is seeking a Data Center Optical Engineer to lead optical transport and infrastructure work in customer data centers and co-locations. You will ensure reliable installation, maintenance, and operation, interfacing with customers and vendors while auditing quality.

Travel up to 50% to non-home market sites is required. The role requires hands-on fiber cabling expertise, optical testing proficiency, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• 3–15 years of experience in data center operations with direct customer interaction.
• Hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cabling: single-mode and multimode.
• Strong written and verbal English for customer-facing communications.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites and co-locations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily audits of work at customer data centers and provide feedback to technicians.
• Interact with customers via ticketing tools or in person; provide clear reports and updates.
• Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, break/fix, remediation and migrations across data center optical and transport environments.
• Conduct and/or supervise optical testing and troubleshooting using power meters, light sources, VFLs, OTDRs, and test sets.
• Deliver services by executing MoPs, engineering documents, vendor docs, and network diagrams.
• Read and interpret cut sheets and network design docs to ensure correct port connections and cable management.
