Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited is seeking a Data Center Technician to perform hands-on hardware maintenance, cabling, and documentation in a secure data center in Alabama. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and readiness to work nights/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in hands-on IT support or data center environments.
• Basic knowledge of servers, networking gear and structured cabling.
• Comfort with hand tools and diagnostic devices.
• Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform racking, stacking, and decommissioning of servers, network, and storage equipment.
• Replace hardware components such as hard drives, memory, power supplies, and cables.
• Label, inventory, and document all hardware changes.
• Monitor and manage structured cabling installations and patching.
• Assist with power and cooling infrastructure checks.
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization of the data center.
• Respond to service tickets for physical interventions.
• Collaborate with remote teams to provide diagnostics and status updates.
• Escalate issues to appropriate teams.
• Maintain logs and provide regular equipment status reports.
• Use monitoring tools and asset management systems as needed.
