Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Avondale, AZ is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems in our data center.

You will manage preventative maintenance, corrective tasks, and emergency responses to keep AWS infrastructure running reliably. You will act as a technical leader for onsite technicians and vendors, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effective operations across the facility.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 2+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee routine and emergency services on critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs.
• Provide training to Engineering Operations Technicians and guide the Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for engineers and vendor support teams.
• May assist in building out new facilities and improve current facility efficiency.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences and coordinate projects.
