Job summary

Amazon's Data Center Engineering Operations team seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to oversee electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems in our Texas data center. You will drive preventive maintenance, respond to urgent issues, and coordinate with on-site technicians and vendors to keep facilities running reliably.

This role requires travel between data centers, leading technical teams, documenting performance benchmarks, and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical facilities maintenance and 3+ years of mechanical facilities maintenance

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues across critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures within SLA.
• Provide training to Engineering Operations Technicians and collaborate with the Facility Manager.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for engineering teams and vendors.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for routine maintenance and emergency calls.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate with IT managers to optimize plant safety, performance, and reliability.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks and prepare maintenance reports.
• Utilize MS Excel, Word, Outlook for day-to-day admin tasks.
