Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to oversee electrical, mechanical and fire/life safety systems across a data center.

You will lead preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with Engineering Operations Technicians and vendors to keep critical facilities running. The role requires 3+ years in electrical/mechanical facilities maintenance, experience with data center operations, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings
• Experience leading technical teams through daily operations and maintenance evolutions

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues. Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers, and building monitoring systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot facilities within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• May assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase facility efficiency.
• Work outside of normal hours for routine maintenance and emergency calls as required.
• Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Coordinate with IT managers to manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
