Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to ensure peak operation of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems across a data center.

You will lead maintenance, troubleshoot critical systems, and coordinate with vendors and on-site technicians to maintain high reliability and safety standards. As the focal point for facility operations, you will train staff, implement standard practices, and support relocation or expansion projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshooting within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and work with Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and in projects to increase facility efficiency.
• Work outside normal hours for routine maintenance and after-hours emergencies.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers and business leaders to optimize plant safety and efficiency.
• Ensure safety procedures are adhered to by vendor and Amazon staff.
• Establish building performance benchmarks and prepare reports on facility operations.
