Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. - A19 is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to ensure peak performance of electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems in our US data centers.

You will lead maintenance, preventative work, and emergency response, acting as the primary technical resource for onsite teams and vendors. Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee routine and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, and building monitors
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with the Facility Manager to set team culture
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency
• Work outside of normal hours for routine maintenance and respond to emergencies
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences
• Coordinate with IT and business leaders to manage capacity and improve safety, performance, and reliability
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff
• Establish building benchmarks, conduct analyses, and report on operations and maintenance
• Use MS Excel, Word, Outlook for day-to-day tasks
