Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to lead maintenance, reliability and operational excellence in a high-availability data center. You will drive day-to-day facility operations and oversee SCADA-like BAS/BMS control of critical systems in a demanding colocation environment.

The role requires deep expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety, plus experience leading projects, vendors, and staff to ensure uptime and customer success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data center facilities experience.
• 10+ years in facility, building or critical infra ops.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire/life safety.
• Experience with BAS/BMS systems.
• Experience managing vendors, contractors, and maintenance programs.
• Ability to read building drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center facility.
• Maintain and improve reliability of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life-safety systems.
• Develop SOPs, MOPs and EOPs for critical operations.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs and vendor contracts.
• Manage facility projects, repairs, upgrades, and infra improvements.
• Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor capacity for power, cooling, and space utilization.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Train engineering staff on critical systems and emergency procedures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and operational planning.
