Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield in Atlanta seeks a Chief Engineer to lead safe, reliable operation of mission-critical data center infrastructure, including UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, HVAC, BMS, EPMS, and DCIM.

You will supervise a technical team 24/7, drive incident response, preventive maintenance, SOPs, change control, and ensure compliance with NFPA/NEC/OSHA. 10+ years in data centers, 3–5 years leadership, and relevant certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in critical facilities or data center environments.
• 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, HVAC, cooling, and fire/life safety.
• Hands-on experience with BMS, EPMS, DCIM monitoring platforms.
• Ability to read electrical one-lines, schematics, sequence of operations, construction drawings, and technical documentation.
• Experience with commissioning, QA/QC, and turnover activities for new or modified infrastructure.
• Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and site safety requirements.
• Certifications such as CDCP, DCEP, OSHA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure.
• Oversee maintenance, testing, and vendor activities across electrical, mechanical, cooling, and life-safety systems.
• Manage 24/7 data center operations with a multidisciplinary team.
• Monitor alarms from BMS, EPMS, and DCIM; lead incident response and root cause analysis.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce SOPs, change management, and procedures.
• Oversee vendor and contractor activities, including commissioning and turnover.
• Support capacity planning, upgrades, and projects in coordination with teams.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement for reliability and safety.
