Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of detention officer experience and 2 years of field supervision experience.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.
• Must be mature, flexible, able to command respect and endure mental stress.

Responsibilities

• Supervise security/control activities and staff in an assigned area for detainee supervision and safety.
• Assist in development and implementation of policies for custody, security and treatment of detainees.
• Respond to major unusual occurrences and provide prompt assistance to detainees/inmates.
• Direct the work of other employees, including hiring, training and evaluations.
• Ensure procedures, emergency procedures and staff training are in place.
