Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Must meet the requirements of being a Correctional Officer.
• Ability to write communications, documents, policy, and court-related writings.

Responsibilities

• In your Sergeant role, you will be responsible for all security and control related functions during your duty shift.
• Supervise detainees during mealtime.
• Routinely inspect all security equipment (doors, gates, fences, lighting systems).
• Ensure all reports written by officers during shift are submitted as required.
• Oversee necessary on-the-job and safety training for officers.
• Supervise perimeter inspection and detect safety hazards.
• Investigate and report detainee disturbances.
• Help detainees who have been injured or traumatized with prompt assistance.
• Work with detainee workers, provide training, and inspect their work.
• Participate in decisions regarding performance ratings and disciplinary actions.
• Conduct regular physical inspections to ensure policy compliance.
