Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Morristown, NJ is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory therapy care and life support under physician supervision.

You will evaluate prescriptions, administer aerosol medications, operate ventilators and related equipment, monitor physiological responses, and educate patients.

Requirements include an AS degree in respiratory therapy, NBRC RRT, NJ license, and 1+ year of experience; Bachelor's degree preferred; Advanced Life Support.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree from an accredited respiratory therapist program, required.
• Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
• Minimum 1+ years of Respiratory Care experience, required.
• Critical care experience, highly preferred.
• Experience with PFT studies and cardiopulmonary testing, highly preferred.
• Active NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
• NJ Respiratory Therapy license active, required.
• Advanced and Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates prescription, measures arterial blood gases, and assesses patient needs to determine therapy type and duration.
• Renders aerosol medications and treatments and positions patients to aid breathing.
• Determines administration methods and modifications per physician orders.
• Sets up and operates ventilators and related equipment to maintain oxygen supply.
• Monitors treatment parameters and patient responses.
• Performs pulmonary function testing to aid physician diagnosis.
• Provides patient education and support for chronic lung disease.
• Demonstrates procedures to trainees and other staff.
• Maintains patient charts and conducts equipment safety inspections.
