Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Morristown, NJ is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist to provide dedicated care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies under physician supervision.

You will evaluate prescriptions, perform arterial blood gases, render aerosol therapies, operate ventilators, monitor responses, and educate patients. This role requires at least 1 year in respiratory care; a BS is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate of Science degree in respiratory therapy is required.
• Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
• Minimum 1+ year of respiratory care experience is required.
• Critical care experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and assess patient condition to determine therapy needs.
• Renders aerosol medications and treatments for inhalation; positions patients to aid breathing.
• Operates devices such as ventilators and gas administration systems to support respiration.
• Monitors treatment parameters (volume, gas concentration, humidity, temperature) and adjusts as needed.
• Performs pulmonary function tests and assists physicians with diagnosis.
• Maintains patient charts and ensures equipment safety; records therapy information.
• Provides patient education and support for those with chronic lung disease.
• May care for premature infants and elderly patients; participates in training of staff.
