Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician in New York to provide front-line support for individuals experiencing homelessness. You will help maintain a safe environment, engage residents with trauma-informed approaches, and respond to crises with calm professionalism.

Full-time position with overtime expectations, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for advancement within a mission-driven team dedicated to staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
